The process for placing porcelain veneers generally takes two to three weeks. Austin cosmetic dentist Dr. John Schmid uses temporary veneers as a diagnostic tool, which will require three visits to our office for the completion of the process. This allows Dr. Schmid to ensure optimal aesthetics and comfort for you.

The Porcelain Veneer Process

Your first porcelain veneers visit at our Austin dental office will consist of Dr. Schmid preparing your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel. Once removed, Dr. Schmid will make an impression of your smile, and fit you with temporary veneers.

On your second visit, Dr. Schmid will assess your temporary veneers for fit, comfort, and function, enabling him to instruct our dental lab partners in customizing the most effective veneers for your smile.

Our dental lab partners will use the information sent by Dr. Schmid, tailoring your permanent veneers to our exact specifications. Once they have been created, generally in seven to fourteen days, you will return to our office to have them placed.
